Distinguished Speaker Program is an excellent way to educate the students and technical staff along with increasing their knowledge on various topics and get their questions answered by industry experts in the field. Considering the increasing need for Big Data in the IT field, “Taming Big Data” is a topic that excited not only the students, but even the teachers.Objective
Our main motive was to help students understand what Big Data is, what is
the need of it in data analytics. How to tame Big Data and tap into big
insights that will enable you to take advantage of market opportunities,

Event Details
The event was graced by highly qualified, ACM Distinguished Scientist and
ACM Distinguished Speaker, Professor Athman Bouguettaya. He is Head of
School of Computer Science, IEEE Fellow, and Graduate of the Australian
Institute of Company Directors.The entire discussion consisted of our guest answering queries regarding Big
Data, about existing technologies and the need of it in the IT industry. The
trend toward specialized analytics that are tailor-made for special types of
data is already accelerating. For example, analytics with algorithms for
textual understanding are already being used to pore through the vast
streams of tweets and e-mails produced each day to look for such things as
terrorism threats and shifts in the way that a product is perceived.
Conclusion
This event was a team collaborated effort of all the students and teachers of
ITSA and ACM Student Chapter of I

IT. All the students worked very hard
and endlessly to conduct events at such a level. Also, with students all the
teachers worked untiringly, helping and guiding the students at each and
every step. Truly Distinguished Speaker Program was an example of great
teamwork, unparalleled determination and a beautiful execution!
Today's Distinguished Speaker Program with highly qualified ACM speaker
amongst us, we had our many questions answered by them.
